Why Sadie Shaw?
Sadie Shaw’s platform was shaped by the voices of Ward 3 residents as well as her own lived experience as a lifelong Tucsonan and neighborhood advocate in the Ward 3 area.
Help continue to shape her platform by taking the Community Survey linked below.

Homelessness
Sadie supports low-barrier shelter options, long-term solutions that address root causes, and transforming surplus city property into designated camp grounds for the unhoused. She will invest in dignity-first approaches and advocate for proven, effective strategies that move beyond criminalization.

Cost of Living
Sadie supports increased tenant and eviction protections, rental and utility assistance and more safeguards for our aging populations. As Tucson’s new zoning changes roll out, including higher-density and mixed-use development, Sadie will fight to protect neighborhood character and make sure the benefits go to working people, not corporate developers.

Climate
Sadie believes our environment must come before corporate profit. She supports public power, water conservation, shade infrastructure, and cooling centers to reduce energy burdens and protect Tucsonans from extreme heat. She will oppose harmful developments like data centers and prioritize long-term climate resilience, starting with low-income communities.

Public Safety
Sadie supports a public safety system rooted in harm reduction, with investments in mental health care, a community responder network, and proven prevention strategies. Real safety requires care, stability, and dignity, not criminalization. Solutions to challenges like housing, addiction, and public safety should be shaped to ensure they work and use public funds wisely.

Streets and Transit
Sadie believes every neighborhood deserves safe, well-maintained streets and reliable transit, not just the wealthiest ones. She will prioritize equitable road repairs, improved traffic control, and a public transit system that truly serves working people. Whether you walk, bike, roll, or ride the bus, you should be able to get where you need to go safely and affordably.

Local Economy
Sadie supports small businesses, labor rights, and fair wages. She believes in building systems that keep wealth rooted in Tucson. Our city is being reshaped by corporate development that pushes out local businesses. As a City Council Member, Sadie will fight to ensure that future development is community-led, benefits locals, and is aligned with Tucson’s character.

Transparency and Open Government
Sadie will fight to expand public access and participation, end the city’s 90-day email deletion policy to adhere to Freedom of Information Act requests, and work toward giving the citizens who serve on the Boards, Committees, and Commissions more meaningful influence. Sadie will also extend office hours so working families have real access to their representative.

What we've heard from you...

“We need real mental health response, not more patrol cars.”
Infrastructure and basic services need serious attention:
“The sidewalks here are crumbling. We’ve been asking for years.”
There’s hunger for government that actually listens:
“We don’t hear back. Decisions are made behind closed doors.”
